Independence Day is here, and I know many of you are making plans to celebrate across our beautiful Central Texas communities. Whether you are looking for a massive display or a cozy spot on the lawn, there is something for everyone this year.
To help you plan your holiday, I have put together a guide to the major fireworks shows in our area, complete with times and the best places to catch the action.
Austin
- Event: 49th Austin Symphony Orchestra July 4th Concert & Fireworks
- When: Saturday, July 4, 2026 | Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
- Where: Auditorium Shores and the Long Center
- Best Place to Sit: The lawn at Auditorium Shores or the grounds of the Long Center offer the most immersive experience, as the fireworks are synchronized with the symphony. For a slightly quieter but equally stunning view, many locals enjoy watching from the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge or the south banks of Lady Bird Lake.
Cedar Park
- Event: Cedar Park Independence Day Celebration
- When: Saturday, July 4, 2026 | Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
- Where: Milburn Park
- Best Place to Sit: Inside Milburn Park is the place to be for the full festival experience, including live music and food trucks. If you want to avoid the dense crowds, the surrounding neighborhoods or parking lots near the park offer excellent vantage points.
Georgetown
- Event: Independence Day Celebration
- When: Saturday, July 4, 2026 | Fireworks at dark
- Where: San Gabriel Park
- Best Place to Sit: The grassy hills of San Gabriel Park provide a fantastic natural amphitheater for the show. Getting there early to claim a spot near the river bend gives you an unobstructed view of the sky.
Jonestown
- Event: Independence Day Celebration
- When: Saturday, July 4, 2026 | Fireworks at dark
- Where: Jones Brothers Park
- Best Place to Sit: Because this park sits right on the edge of Lake Travis, the best place to sit is near the water's edge or on a boat anchored just offshore. The reflection of the fireworks over the water is spectacular.
Lago Vista
- Event: Lago Liberty Days: Freedom on the Lake
- When: Saturday, July 4, 2026 | Fireworks begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.
- Where: Bar-K Park
- Best Place to Sit: Bar-K Park is the official hub for the celebration. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets down to the park early to secure a spot with a clear line of sight over the lake.
Leander
- Event: Liberty Fest
- When: Friday, July 3, 2026 | Drone and fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.
- Where: Devine Lake Park
- Best Place to Sit: The main festival area at Devine Lake Park is ideal for families wanting to enjoy the Kids Zone and live music before the show. Since parking is offsite, utilize the free shuttle service from Glenn High School to get dropped off right near the entrance.
Round Rock
- Event: Frontier Days
- When: Saturday, July 4, 2026 | Fireworks begin at dark (approximately 10:00 p.m.)
- Where: Old Settlers Park (Lakeview Stage and Pavilion area)
- Best Place to Sit: The newly developed Lakeview Stage area is the heart of the event. For a more relaxed experience, the perimeter of the lake within the park allows you to see the fireworks clearly while staying away from the main stage crowd.
A Few Pro-Tips for a Great Evening:
- Arrive Early: For all of these events, parking lots tend to fill up quickly. Aim to arrive at least an hour before sunset.
- Pack Accordingly: Bring portable chairs, blankets, plenty of water, and insect repellent.
- Check the Rules: Most city parks prohibit glass containers, personal fireworks (including sparklers), and drones.
